We went to the Phoenix Art Museum today to catch the Monet, Matisse and More exhibit. Though that was pretty cool, and showed how paintings evolve over time, my favorite part by far was an installation called ‘You Who Are Getting Obliterated in the Dancing Swarm of Fireflies’ by Yayoi Kusama. Apparently I have been sleeping, because this has been around for years, but it is a truly wonderful experience. Picture a dark room, mirrored on each surface, and filled with color-changing LEDs on dark screens strings. It is a pretty straightforward concept, and entirely accessible for a DIY project. Anyone know where to get large, cheap mirrors?
