The center ones are for reinforcement, but might be superfluous. The spacing between studs is 16", and the wall is 12' high. @Lee

Fire blocking? Not sure I've ever seen anyone block between studs at the top plate either. Is this a temporary wall for some projects, or is Hack Pittsburgh rearranging their room layouts?
