Thing-a-day, Day 5: Tri-color LED matrix

I ordered a bunch of these nifty three-color LEDs for no particular reason, and they happened to show up today. I ran out and picked up a protoboard from Radioshack, and assembled them into a grid as seen here. This is part one of a two-part project; the next part is to make a driver for them, to create a nice 8 color or possibly 256 color (using two one-bit pages) display. Right now, I am leaning towards training a PIC processor to do this.
