Steering wheel remote control!

I finally got around to converting the remote control that came with my new car stereo into a steering-wheel mounted controller. The idea is pretty straightforward; I broke open the remote control and soldered in remote switches in parallel with the original switches, so that when you press one of the buttons it causes the remote to send out the proper code. No mess, and no programming! To be really ambitious, one could hack up the remote control PCB and fit it into a smaller package. I am not (yet) that ambitious. I will put up some better pictures when it is light outside…

Three momentary touch switches mounted on a small breadboard, which will fit under one side of the steering wheel. The unit has a sheet of plastic mounted on it so that wire ties can be used to hold it to the back of the steering wheel.
