My dad tipped me off on a pretty good deal at Harbor Freight; they have a sale on a tabletop drill press that normally retails for $70. This is a pretty amazing price; I would be hard pressed to find the electric motor for the stupid thing for less than that. So what does $40 get you? A pretty solid feeling machine. I was looking for something that I could use to do light metal and woodworking with, for robotics and art projects such as the laser harp, and this fits the bill. Of course, the ultimate machine to have would be a tabletop CNC router.
